Delta Upsilon
Zeta Tau Alpha was founded at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia, on October 15, 1898. Zeta Tau Alpha had chartered 259 chapters in the United States and Canada, with 175 active collegiate and 233 active alumnae chapters. West Virginia Wesleyan College is home to the Delta Upsilon chapter, chartered on May 4, 1963.
Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness. Our partners are with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the NFL, and the American Cancer Society. Through our philanthropy, we raise money that benefits scholarships, educational programming, leadership development, and our fight against breast cancer. Our national organization recently committed $1.25 million to the BCRF to fund cancer research that includes projects focusing on artificial intelligence and predicting breast cancer development. On campus, we have several events that we host to help raise money and awareness for our philanthropy. In October, breast cancer awareness month, we paint the big rock, dye the fountain pink, and host several events like pie-a-zeta and who do you think pink for. Spring of 2025, we raised over $1000 for breast cancer education and awareness!
Service is one of Zeta Tau Alpha’s key values. We are committed to helping community members through our service events. Our service events this semester are: donations for the Clothing Closet, back-to- school bags for Appalachian Impact, breast cancer hope kits for an oncology unit, Thanksgiving Food Donations, blessing boxes for winter.
Sisters on campus are involved in a wide variety of activities on campus including: WE LEAD, SNOW, PRISM, Wesleyan Service Scholars, Athletics, Student Senate, honor societies, and internships/externships both on and off campus!
