ABOUT Greek life

Greek Life has a rich history on campus, originally beginning in 1921 and officially recognized by the Board of Trustees in 1925 – Greek chapters focus on academic integration, leadership development, civic engagement, and character/values congruence.

Approximately one-third of Wesleyan students are members of a Greek organization. Our Membership actively participates in a variety of on and off campus organizations. These organizations value academic scholarship and encourage it in their members. The average GPA of all Greek students has exceeded the College average GPA every semester since 2001.  Fraternities and sororities also heavily stress philanthropy and giving back to our campus and community. In fact, these organizations donate a combined total of over 10,000 volunteer hours annually.

Each fraternity and sorority is unique, and all offer members a connection with fellow students and alumni through relationships that continue long after college.
